A floating network device is a device for which A3 requires different behavior.
Note
A3 only supports floating network devices on Cisco and Nortel switches configured with port-security.The general format and usage of this page is discussed in General GUI Usage.
A normal device is placed in the VLAN corresponding to its status (registration, isolation, or regular VLAN) and authorizes it on the port via port-security. When a floating network device is plugged in, A3 will enable all the MAC addresses that will be connected to this device or appear on the port. If necessary, it will configure the port as a trunk port and set the PVID and tagged VLANs on the port. When an floating network device is unplugged, the port will be reconfigured as before it was plugged in.
This page displays the current floating devices by
MAC addresses, IP Address, Native VLAN, and Trunk Port status. Each device can be
cloned for addition using the CLONE button, or deleted by the DELETE button. An
entry can be edited by selecting its MAC address or a new floating device can be
defined by selecting the button.
The fields on the dialog are:

MAC Address | The MAC address of the floating device. | 11:22:33:44:55:66 |
