Configure WAN Tracking

This task is part of the network policy configuration workflow. Use this task to configure WAN tracking as part of a network policy. Configure one or two WAN tracking destination IP addresses in a network policy so routers can check WAN availability by sending probe packets to these destination IPs.

  1. Go to Configure > Network Policies.
  2. Select an existing network policy, and then select Edit, or select Add.
  3. After you save the Policy Details, select 5 Branch Routing.
  4. From the Router Settings menu, select WAN Tracking.
  5. To change the default, type a different Primary IP Target.

The default primary IPv4 target is 8.8.8.8, which is the Google Public DNS, a free domain name system (DNS). This DNS is available from anywhere in the world.

  6. Optional: Type a Secondary IP Target.
  7. Type the Number of Retries before the router marks the link as unavailable.
  8. For the Measurement Interval, type the number of seconds between retries.
  9. To return settings to the factory defaults, select Reset to Default.
  10. Select SAVE.

Continue configuring the network policy.
