Port Types
View, sort, select, clone, and delete port type objects on this page.

Configure > Common Objects > Policy > Port Types
From the port types list, you can view or delete port type profiles configured for your devices. You can configure the device port type in the Device Templates section of the workflow. For help, about configuring port types in the Network Policies workflow, see AP Device Template Settings, Configure Switch Templatesand Port Types.
The Port Type list displays all of the configured port types for your network, including the following information::
Port Type Name: Switch port type names can be Access Port, Phone with a Data Port, Trunk port (802.1Q VLAN tagging) and Mirror Port. AP port names can be Bridge-Access, Bridge-802.1Q, and Uplink Port.
Switch Port Types:
Access Port: Ports connected to individual hosts such as printers, servers, and end user computers.
Phone with a data port: Ports connected to IP phones, and optionally, to computers cabled to the phones.
Trunk port: Ports that are connected to network forwarding devices such as switches, and APs that support multiple VLANs on trunk ports.
Mirror port: Ports that serve as the destination to which you want to mirror data from one or more other ports for diagnostic purposes.
AP Port Types:
Bridge Access: Are ports connected to individual hosts.
Bridge-802.1Q: Are ports providing network access through forwarding devices and support multiple VLANs.
Uplink Port: Are ports used for WAN uplink.
Device Series: This is the device model type and can be an access point or a switch.
Authentication: Authentication methods include 802.1X, or MAC authentication.
User Profile: The user profile assignment to which the device and the port type belongs.
VLAN: The VLAN to which the port type is applied.
Used By: Shows the number of templates which the port type is applied. Hover your cursor over the number to see more details about where the port type is used.
You can add a new object or profile by cloning an existing object or profile and then renaming it. Select the check box for the object or profile that you want to clone and then select . Enter the new name and then select Clone.
To delete a single port type object, select the check box for that object and then select and confirm the deletion.
