Extreme Networks XR600P routers support HTTP URL filtering rules, which define URL filtering by whitelist, blacklist, and category, and which can be assigned to one or more user profiles. You can select from existing user profiles or you can create a new user profile in the URL filtering rule table.
The current URL filtering rules appear in this table, with names, optional descriptions, number of whitelist URLs, number of blacklist URLs, number of blocked categories, and number of assigned user profiles.
To add or modify a URL filtering rule, navigate to Configure > Network Policies > policy_name > Router Settings > Additional Router Services > URL Filtering, and toggle Enable URL Filtering Rules to On.
To assign existing user profiles to a URL filtering rule, select Select in the User Profiles column, select the required user profiles from the User Profiles dialog box, and select Select. ExtremeCloud IQ assigns these user profiles to the URL filtering rule.
Configure URL Filtering Rules
Enter the required HTTP and HTTPS Ports (separated by commas), and then select Add.
Enter the following:
URL Filtering Rule Name: Enter a name containing up to 32 characters without spaces.
Description: Enter an optional description containing up to 64 characters, including spaces. Select Add.
Add required whitelist and blacklist entries, and select any Categories to block as described below:
Note
You can also import a .csv file of allowed whitelist and disallowed blacklist URLs as described in "Import CSV Data".Whitelist: This is the list of allowed URLs, regardless of category, that the router examines first. In the New URL Filtering Detail Rule window, select the Whitelist subtab, and then either manually enter up to 32 allowed HTTP URLs, or import a .csv file of allowed URLs as described in "Import CSV Data".Select Save.
Blacklist: This is a list of disallowed URLs, regardless of category that the router examines second. Select the Blacklist subtab, and then either:manually enter up to 32 disallowed HTTP URLs, or import a .csv file of disallowed URLs as described in "Import CSV Data". Select Save.
Note
Whitelists and Blacklists can be applied to both HTTP and HTTPS, but there are some differences. For HTTPS, you can only get the domain name (for example, www.google.com ), so if you configure the URL as www.google.com/xxxx, HTTPS cannot match it, but if you configure the URL as www.google.com or *.google.com, then HTTPS can match it. This does not apply to HTTP.Categories: The list of admin-selected categories is what the router examines third.Select the Categories subtab, and choose the categories to be blocked by this rule. When you are finished, select Save. In New URL Filtering Rule, select Save.
Select Add or Select in the Schedules column to create a new schedule, or select an existing schedule. Select Save Schedule, or choose Select in the Schedules dialog box.
Continue adding detail rules until the URL filtering rule table is complete and then select Save. In the URL Filtering Rules dialog box, select Save.
