Overview

Presence analytics lets you monitor wireless client traffic in the real world in a way similar to how cookies track online browsing. In a retail environment, you can use presence data to monitor customer behavior and calculate how to engage these customers through their mobile devices for increased sales opportunities.

The Presence window shows client activity over a period of time period (which you can determine). Clients are identified by type (see "Presence Definitions").

Note

You must first enable presence data collection in your network policies or radio profiles. Once enabled, data appears on the Presence page after 24 hours.

Use the filter section to manage the data that is displayed in this window. When a filter is applied, the filter icon changes from to .

Presence Client Definitions

Engaged Clients: An associated client that has a signal strength between -67 dBm and -95 dBm or greater and that has been connected to the AP for 20 minutes or more.

Passers By: An associated client with a signal between -67 dBm and -95 dBm or less, that was connected to the AP for a brief time (usually under 20 minutes) and then left.

Conversion: Clients that were initially passers-by, but who later returned, reconnected to the AP, and stayed longer than 20 minutes.

Presence Widgets

Visitors: Displays engaged clients and passers by, and shows the conversion rate from passersby to engaged clients for each day and for the specified time range. Hover over a bar in the graph to see more information. Select to print this chart, or to download it in a selected file format.

Loyalty: Displays data about new clients and how many clients returned to the location each day for the specified time range. Hover over a bar in the graph to see more information. Select to print this chart, or to download it in a selected file format.

Connections: Displays the number of associated and unassociated clients each day over a specified time range. Hover over a bar in the graph to see more information. Select to print this chart, or to download it in a selected file format.
