DHCP Servers and DHCP Relays
View, add, sort, select, modify, clone, and delete DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol) server and relay objects.
Navigate using the tab icons. Hover over an icon to see the name of the tab.
Configure > Common Objects > Basic > DHCP Server and Relay
You can add, modify, clone, or delete previously saved DHCP server and relay objects from this window. For small networks that do not already have a DHCP server, you can configure and enable a DHCP server on an Extreme Networks device to provide network settings dynamically to clients. SeeDHCP Server and DHCP Relay Settings.
Note
After configuring one hive member as a DHCP server, the other hive members process the DHCPDISCOVERY and DHCPREQUEST messages that they receive from clients as usual, forwarding them to their neighbors through which they connect to the network. The only requirement about which device to use as the DHCP server is that it must be a portal. In the case where some hive members are in a different subnet from that of the DHCP server, you must also configure those device to forward DHCP traffic to the IP address of the centralized DHCP server. In this case, the other devices act as DHCP relay agents. You can configure both DHCP servers and relay agents here.
While you can manage objects and profiles on the Common Objects page, the best-practice recommendation is that you configure them in a network policy workflow. For information about how to configure DHCP server and relay objects, see DHCP Server and DHCP Relay Settings.
The DHCP Server and Relay Objects table displays the following information:
You can add a new object or profile by cloning an existing object or profile and then renaming it. Select the check box for the object or profile that you want to clone and then select . Enter the new name in the Save As field, and then select Clone.
You can delete one or more objects. To delete a single object, select the check box for that object, and then select and confirm the deletion.
To delete multiple objects at the same time, first select the check boxes for the objects that you want to delete, and then select . To confirm, select Yes. To cancel, select No.
