Configure > Network Policies > policy_name > Device Templates
or
Configure > Network Policies > policy_name > Wireless Networks > Device Templates
Each network policy has a complete set of templates that correspond to devices assigned to that policy. These templates provide a diagram of the physical ports for a specific device model, and allow you to customize many AP features on the WiFi 0 and WiFi 1 radio interfaces and also specify AP or switch functionality. You can then assign port types to the ports. A port type defines how the ports assigned to it will function.
Using device template classification, you do not need to create separate network policies for each device that requires different functionality. Create one network policy, configure and classify the device templates based on the requirements and location of your devices (classification rules), and then deploy the single network policy.
For example, APs in one location require different radio settings than APs in a separate location. Create separate device templates that specify the radio profiles for the devices in each location, and then apply device classification rules that define the location of these devices. Your single network policy is then ready to deploy.
For more information about device classification, see Classification Rules Overview.
After you have configured a default device template for an AP or switch, you can add subsequent device templates (objects) for classification by location. Use the following steps:
Name: Enter a name for the classification rule. The name can contain up to 32 characters and cannot have spaces.
Description: Enter an optional description containing up to 64 characters, including spaces.
