About IP Firewall Rule Services

Part of configuring an IP firewall policy rule is configuring the service that applies to that rule. When you create a new policy rule, the first step is to select a network service (for example, BGP, DHCP, FTP, HTTP). A service can also be a network application or group of applications. See IP Firewall Policies, IP Firewall Policies, and IP Firewall Policy Rules.

Choose Services for an IP Firewall Rule

When you create a new rule for an IP firewall rule, the first step is to select the network services or applications for the rule. From the Select Services window, select the following information, and then select Save.

Service: Choose either Network Services or Application Services (you cannot select both). You can add up to 100 services to an IP firewall policy rule.

Network Services

If you choose Network Services, the Select Services dialog box appears. You can search for the services by typing part or all of a service name in the Filter field.

Select the check boxes for one or more services (up to a maximum of 100) to map to an IP firewall policy, and then select Save.

Application Services

If you choose Application Services, select either Application Name or Application Group. You can type part or all of an application or application group name in the Filter field, and then select Search to see a list of available applications or groups.

Select the check boxes for up to 100 applications or groups to map to an IP firewall rule, and then select Save. For more details, see IP Firewall Policy Rules.
