Configure an External RADIUS Server

You can manage external RADIUS common objects from this window. These common objects can be used throughout the Extreme Networks system. For more information about wireless network (SSID)-specific RADIUS server groups and RADIUS servers, see Standard Wireless Network Settings.

Note

Note

ExtremeCloud IQ supports RADIUS servers for SSIDs with 802.1X, WEP 802.1X, and MAC authentication, and captive web portals that require users to register by logging in with user names and passwords.

To configure external RADIUS common objects, you need the IP address and authentication port number of the RADIUS server, and must know the shared secret.

Select Add to create a new RADIUS server profile, or select to modify an existing RADIUS server profile. Enter the following information:

Name: Enter a name for the RADIUS server.

Description: Enter an optional description.

IP/Host Name: Choose an IP address or host name object for the RADIUS server. If you do not see the IP address that you need in the drop-down list, select and define a new IPv4 or IPv6 address. If the address object is a host name, make sure that the devices are able to resolve it to an IP address. If you configure a domain name for the devices—or if the devices dynamically receive a domain name through DHCP—and the RADIUS server belongs to the same domain, the RADIUS server name can be just the host name without the domain name. If the RADIUS server belongs to a different domain, then the address object must be the FQDN (fully qualified domain name); in other words, the host name + the domain name.

Server Type: Choose the role of the RADIUS server.

Authentication: As an authentication server, the RADIUS service requests that the client device demonstrate its identity.Port: Set the RADIUS authentication port. The default port number is 1812.Accounting: As an accounting server, the RADIUS service tracks client-server session details.Port: Set the RADIUS accounting port number. The default port number is 1813.

Shared Secret: Set the shared secret for authenticating communications with the RADIUS server.

Confirm Secret: Enter the shared secret again to ensure accuracy.Show Password: To see the text string that you type, select the Show Password check box.
