Configure Node Alias NEW!

About this task

By default, the switch enables Node Alias globally, as well as on Auto-sense enabled ports.
Note

Note

You cannot enable Node Alias on SPBM NNI ports.

If you disable Node Alias globally, port level functionality is also disabled.

Note

Note

The steps in this procedure assume Node Alias is disabled globally as well as on ports.

Perform the following procedure to configure Node Alias.

Procedure

  1. Enter Global Configuration mode:

    enable

    configure terminal

  2. Enable Node Alias globally:
    nodealias enable
  3. Configure the number of clients stored in the Node Alias client database on the switch:

    nodealias max-clients <max-clients>

  4. Enter GigabitEthernet Interface Configuration mode:

    enable

    configure terminal

    interface GigabitEthernet {slot/port[/sub-port][-slot/port[/sub-port]][,...][slot/all][all]}

    Note

    Note

If the platform supports channelization and the port is channelized, you must also specify the sub-port in the format slot/port/sub-port.

  5. Enable Node Alias on a port:
    nodealias enable
  6. Verify the configuration:
    show nodealias

Example

Display basic information for Node Alias clients:

Switch:1>show nodealias
