Auto-sense Logical Flowcharts

The system uses a per-interface state to adapt to all Auto-sense events. Each state transition determines background configuration on the port. The system does not display Auto-sense port configurations in the show running-config command or in the saved configuration file; instead use the show auto-sense commands to show global and port specific Auto-sense information..

The following flowcharts describe the system logic for Auto-sense port state detection, how the system configurations change the logic path, and the Auto-sense configuration results.

Note

Note

The vlan create CLI command examples do not apply to DvR leaf switch configurations. DvR leaf switches create VLANs automatically.

Auto-sense Fabric NNI

Detection of a Fabric network-to-network interface (NNI) results in tagged Backbone VLAN IDs (B-VID) with IS-IS NNI enabled.

Automatic Channelization with Auto-sense

The switch automatically channelizes a port if the port operates in Auto-sense mode and you insert a supported part. The following images show the impact of Auto-sense on a channelization-capable port.

Automatic Channelization with Auto-sense enabled
If you enable Auto-sense, the port automatically enables or updates the channelization configuration when you insert supported parts. You cannot disable automatic channelization if Auto-sense is enabled.

Automatic Channelization with Auto-sense disabled
If Auto-sense is disabled on the port, you must manually enable channelization. Inserting a supported part does not automatically enable channelization.

For more information, see Channelization.

Auto-sense with ExtremeCloud SD-WAN

Detection of an SD-WAN Appliance results in untagged VLAN 4047 and the application of Fabric Extend tunnel assignments. If you use SD-WAN Orchestrator to enable a Local Breakout (LBO) branch, Auto-sense can also apply the LBO configuration to select VRFs.

Auto-sense SD-WAN
If Auto-sense detects the SD-WAN appliance, the port transitions to the SD-WAN state, which creates untagged VLAN 4047 and applies Fabric Extend tunnel assignments. Auto-sense can also apply a Local Breakout configuration.
