Modify an Existing IP Interface

By default, the switch enables an IP interface (a VLAN or brouter port) after you configure the primary IP address. You can administratively disable, and then reenable, an IPv4 interface after you create it. For example, if you want to change the routing protocol configuration on the interface.

About this task

You can also instruct the switch to create the IP interface in a disabled state when you initially configure the primary IP address. For more information, see Assign an IP address to a Port or Configure a Primary IP Address for a VLAN.

Procedure

  1. Enter Interface Configuration mode:

    enable

    configure terminal

interface GigabitEthernet {slot/port[/sub-port][-slot/port[/sub-port]][,...][slot/all][all]} or interface vlan <1–4059>

    Note

    Note

If the platform supports channelization and the port is channelized, you must also specify the sub-port in the format slot/port/sub-port.

  2. Disable the IP interface:

    no ip interface enable

  3. Make feature configuration changes for the IP interface.
  4. Reenable the IP interface:

    ip interface enable
