Updated: 10/14/2008 Enterprise NMS DIT Package README file for Enterprise Policy Manager v4.3.1 Application (C Version) ================================================================================ DIT PACKAGE SUMMARY: ================================================================================ This document contains installation instructions, supported device list and known limitations information for the Device Integration Toolkit (DIT) package of Enterprise Policy Manager Application. This package adds support for Enterprise Policy Manager Application software into Enterprise Network Management System (ENMS). These DIT installation instructions are not included either in the ENMS documentation or in EPM documentation. Minimum ENMS v10.4 release is required for installing this DIT package. Note: EPM application can be launched from ENMS 10.4 CLIENT-ONLY version if: - the EPM Application DIT v4.3.1 is installed on ENMS SERVER 10.4; - the ENMS CLIENT 10.4 has access to the EPM SERVER. ***** Note ****** This DIT package fixes CR Q01533521 - Perl library not found during EPM/OPS DIT Install on HP-UX DEVICES SUPPORTED: ================================================================================ EPM application can be launched on: - Business Communications Manager - Business Policy Switch - ERS 1600 - ERS 3510 - ERS 5500 - ERS 8300 - ERS 8600 - ES 460 & 470 - Multiprotocol Router - Secure Router 1000 - Secure Router 3100 - Secure Router 6200 - VPN Router - EPM Server CHANGE HISTORY: =========================================================================== 01/23/2007 - Created initial "A" version DIT package. 04/05/2007 - Created "B" version DIT package. 10/14/2008 - Created "C" version DIT package (fix for Q01931080) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: ================================================================================ The default location for any Device Integration Toolkit package is under: Unix ($OITHOME): /usr/dit (ENMS) Windows 2000/2003 Server (%OITHOME%): :\enms\dit All installation commands are relative to the directory containing the extracted (un-tarred or un-zipped) DIT package. The following commands should be executed in that directory only. Installing on UNIX: ------------------- 1. On your workstation, log in as root (su command). 2. You must install Java RTE Plug-in - Minimum version 1.5.0_02 On Solaris: Download Java RTE Plug-in - Minimum version 1.5.0_02 After downloading the package, please run: jre-1_5_0_02-solaris-sparc.sh in command line. This will install the required Java Runtime. Please verify under mozilla/plugins directory where mozilla is installed that you have a symbolic link for: libjavaplugin_oji.so to [directory where the new Java Runtime is installed]/plugin/sparc/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so If there is a symbolic link libjavaplugin_oji.so in this directory to an older java, remove it. Then create a symbolik link to the newly installed Java Plug-in as follows: ln -s [directory where the new Java Runtime is installed]/plugin/sparc/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji.so 3. Open a unix shell window and prepare your user environment with one of the following commands: source /opt/lnms/bin/opt_cshrc (for csh and tcsh) OR . /opt/lnms/bin/opt_kshrc (for sh or ksh) 4. Create a temporary storage directory for the DIT package. For example: mkdir /tmp/EPM-App Note: Do NOT create this directory under $OITHOME. 5. Navigate to the directory you just created. Copy the DIT package to this location. Proceed to uncompress it and then untar it. Do this by typing the following commands: uncompress NMS_EPMApp_v431_C.tar.Z tar -xvf NMS_EPMApp_v431_C.tar 6. After the packaged is untarred, type the following command: ./install The installation script runs which does the following: i) Prompts the user to provide the URL of the EPM Management Console (MC) Application. The DIT file will be updated to reflect this information. There are 2 options: a) EPM Management Console is installed locally (the EPM Management Console is installed locally on ENMS server machine). EPM Management Console can be launched only on ENMS server machine, but it cannot be launched from another ENMS client machine. The URL in this case will be: file:////OPS.jnlp b) EPM Console Management is installed in a Web Server (the EPM Management Console may be installed on a different machine than the machine with ENMS server). The EPM Management Console can be launched in this case both from ENMS client and server machines. The URL in this case will be: http://[:]/[/]OPS.jnlp ii) Runs the ditInstall utility to update Enterprise NMS with EPM Application launch point. Installing on Windows: ---------------------- 1. On your workstation, log in as administrator 2. You must download and install Java RTE Plug-in - Minimum version 1.5.0_02 3. Open a command prompt 4. Create a temporary storage directory for the DIT package. For example: mkdir C:\Temp\EPM Note: Do NOT create this directory under %OITHOME%. 5. Download and Copy the DIT package (a self-extracting archive) into this directory. 6. Execute the DIT package file so that all the files in the package are extracted. The files are extracted to the directory NMS_EPMApp_v431_C. 7. Navigate to the directory that was created. cd C:\Temp\EPM\NMS_EPMApp_v431_C 8. Type "install.bat" on the command line to run DIT install.
