Enterprise NMS DIT Package README file for Optivity Policy Services v4.0
Application (B Version)

DIT PACKAGE SUMMARY:
================================================================================

This document contains installation instructions, supported device list and
known limitations information for the Device Integration Toolkit (DIT) package
of Optivity Policy Servvices Application. This package adds support for Optivity
Policy Services Application software into Optivity Network Management System (ONMS)
and Enterprise Network Management System (ENMS).
These DIT installation instructions are not included either in the ONMS/ENMS
documentation or in OPS documentation. Minimum ONMS v10.3 release is required for
installing this DIT package. This package can be installed on ENMS 10.4.


Note: OPS application can be launched from ENMS 10.4 CLIENT-ONLY version if:
  - the OPS v4.0 DIT is installed on ENMS SERVER 10.4;
  - the ENMS CLIENT 10.4 has access to the OPS SERVER.

* OPS Policy Server (v4.0 or greater)


INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
================================================================================

The default location for any Device Integration Toolkit package is under:

Unix ($OITHOME):                        /usr/oit (ONMS)
                                        /usr/dit (ENMS)
Windows 2000/2003 Server (%OITHOME%):            <DRIVE_LETTER>:\optivity\oit
                                        <DRIVE_LETTER>:\enms\dit

All installation commands are relative to the directory containing the
extracted (un-tarred or un-zipped) DIT package. The following commands
should be executed in that directory only.

Installing on UNIX:
-------------------
1. On your workstation, log in as root (su command).

2. Open a unix shell window and prepare your user environment with one of
   the following commands:
       source /opt/lnms/bin/opt_cshrc (for csh and tcsh)
    OR
       . /opt/lnms/bin/opt_kshrc (for sh or ksh)

3. Create a temporary storage directory for the DIT package.  For example:
      mkdir /tmp/OPS-App

   Note: Do NOT create this directory under $OITHOME.

4. Navigate to the directory you just created.  Copy the DIT package to this
   location.  Proceed to uncompress it and then untar it.  Do this by typing the
   following commands:

      uncompress NMS_OPSApp_v40_B.tar.Z

      tar -xvf NMS_OPSApp_v40_B.tar

5. After the packaged is untarred, type the following command:

      ./install

   The installation script runs which does the following:

      i) Prompts the user to provide the IP_Address of the OPS server and OPS port number
         on which OPS listens to http requests.  The DIT file will be updated to reflect
         this information.

     ii) Runs the oitInstall/ditInstall utility to update Optivity/Enterprise NMS with OPS
         Application launch point.


Installing on Windows:
-----------------
1. On your workstation, log in as administrator

2. Open a command prompt

3. Create a temporary storage directory for the DIT package.  For example:
      mkdir C:\Temp\OPS

   Note: Do NOT create this directory under %OITHOME%.

4. Download and Copy the DIT package (a self-extracting archive) into
   this directory.
5. Execute the DIT package file so that all the files in the package are
   extracted.  The files are extracted to the directory NMS_OPSApp_v40_B.
6. Navigate to the directory that was created.
   cd C:\temp\OPS\NMS_OPSApp_v40_B

7. Type "install.bat" on the command line to run DIT install.

   The installation script runs which does the following:

      i) Prompts the user to provide the IP_Address of the OPS server and OPS port number
         on which OPS listens to http requests.  The DIT file will be updated to reflect
         this information.

     ii) Runs the oitInstall/ditInstall utility to update Optivity/Enterprise NMS with OPS
         Application launch point.

After installing this DIT package, a launch point for OPS application will be added
under Configuration menu for all supported devices.

I) Because of the user input requirements, this DIT package can NOT be installed
   using OIT/DIT Admin Tool.
