DIT Package README file for Enterprise Policy Management Server v4.2
& Optivity Policy Services Server v4.0

DIT PACKAGE SUMMARY:
================================================================================

This document contains installation instructions, supported device list and 
known limitations information for the Device Integration Toolkit (DIT) package
of Enterprise Policy Management Server. This package adds support for Enterprise
Policy Management Server v4.2 and Optivity Policy Services Server v4.0 software
into Optivity/Enterprise Network Management System (ONMS/ENMS).
These DIT installation instructions are not included either in the ONMS/ENMS
documentation or in OPS/EPM documentation. Minimally ONMS v10.3 release
is required for installing this DIT package. this package can be also installed
on ENMS 10.4.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
================================================================================

The default location for any Device Integration Toolkit package is under:

Unix ($OITHOME):                        /usr/oit (ONMS)
                                        /usr/dit (ENMS)
Windows 2000/2003 Server (%OITHOME%):   <DRIVE_LETTER>:\optivity\oit (ONMS)
                                        <DRIVE_LETTER>:\enms\dit     (ENMS)

All installation commands are relative to the directory containing the
extracted (un-tarred or un-zipped) DIT package. The following commands
should be executed in that directory only.

Manual Installation on UNIX:
----------------------------
1. On your workstation, log in as root (su command).

2. Open a unix shell window and prepare your user environment with one of
   the following commands: 
       source /opt/lnms/bin/opt_cshrc (for csh and tcsh)
    OR
       . /opt/lnms/bin/opt_kshrc (for sh or ksh)

3. Create a temporary storage directory for the DIT package.  For example:
      mkdir /tmp/EPM

   Note: Do NOT create this directory under $OITHOME.

4. Navigate to the directory you just created. Copy the DIT package to this
   location. Proceed to unzip it and then untar it. Do this by typing the
   following commands:

      uncompress NMS-EPM-v42-A.tar.Z
 
      tar -xvf NMS-EPM-v42-A.tar

5. At the command prompt, type:     
      ./install

   The installation script runs which does the following:
       i) Copies various files (*.gif, *.mib) files into
          appropriate directories.

      ii) Runs oitInstall/ditInstall utility to update ONMS/ENMS with OPS/EPM
          support.

Manual Installation on Windows:
--------------------------
1. On your workstation, log in as administrator

2. Open a command prompt

3. Create a temporary storage directory for the DIT package.  For example:
      mkdir C:\Temp\EPM

   Note: Do NOT create this directory under %OITHOME%.

4. Navigate to the directory you just created.  Copy the DIT package to this
   location and unzip it.
  
5. Navigate to the directory you just created. Double click on "install.bat" 
   file to run DIT install.

  The installation script runs which does the following:
       i) Copies various files (*.gif, *.mib) files into
          appropriate directories.

      ii) Runs oitInstall/ditInstall utility is to update ONMS/ENMS with
          OPS/EPM support.

Automated install using OITAdmin (rebranded DITAdmin) Tool on both UNIX and Windows
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Run oitadmin tool (ditadmin in ENMS), at the command prompt by typing:
	oitadmin (for ONMS)
	OR ditadmin (for ENMS)

2. Download the DIT package and make sure that the package is located at:
	<Drive>:\Optivity\oit (on Windows with ONMS)
	OR <Drive>:\enms\dit (on Windows with ENMS)
  OR	/opt/oit (on UNIX with ONMS)
  OR /opt/dit (on UNIX with ENMS)

3. Select Tools->Install Component... menuitem.

4. In the Open dialog box, select the package and click on OK.

5. Another dialog box should come up showing the progress of the DIT install.
   Select OK once DIT install is completed.


Installation Results:
---------------------
After successful installation an entry corresponding to Enterprise Policy
Management Server v4.2 will be displayed in the OITAdmin Tool (DITAdmin Tool in
ENMS) main window.

NOTE: You must run discovery on a subnet containing the EPM/OPS server machine
in order to add this device into ONMS/ENMS topology database.
