Schedule a Backup of the System Configuration

When you schedule a backup, you can choose to upload the backup to a server or have the scheduled backup saved locally or on an external flash drive. You can also choose to secure the backup with an encrypted password.

To schedule a backup:

  1. Go to Admin > System > Software Upgrade and from under the Backup panel, select Configure Schedule.
    The Schedule Backup dialog displays.
  2. Configure the settings described in Schedule Backup Parameters
    Table 1. Schedule Backup Parameters
    ParameterDescription
Backup LocationIndicates where to send the backup file. Options include: Local, Remote, or Flash. When sending a backup to a remote server, configure the server properties.
What to back upIndicates the content of the backup file. Options include: Configs, Logs and Audit (which is a full backup), or Configuration files only.
    Schedule Task

Indicates when the backup task runs. Options include:

    • None (default) — Retain this setting to never generate a backup

    • Daily — Specify the time of day to generate a backup. Optionally, select the Include Weekends check box.

    • Weekly — Specify on which days of the week and what time of day to generate a backup

    • Monthly — Specify on which day of the month and what time of day to generate a backup.

If any option other than None is selected, the Secure Backup check box appears and is disabled by default. Optionally, select the check box to secure the backup with password-protected access. Enter and confirm the encrypted Password (12–64 characters) that you will later use to restore the backup.
Attention: The password is required to restore the backup. Users are responsible for saving their password. The system will not be able to recover it.
  3. Select OK or Cancel.
If the Secure Backup password you defined in the previous step is valid, the Secure Backup checkbox and the password clear. If the password is invalid, an error message appears. In this case, repeat the previous step and define a valid password.
