Configure IoT Profiles

You must be in the process of editing or configuring a Device Group Profile to continue with this procedure.

Use this procedure to create or edit an IoT Profile for a Device Group.
Note

Note

The GUI layout that you use for configuring IoT is somewhat different for AP models using Wi-Fi 6E or lower standards versus AP models using Wi-Fi 7 or higher standards. Although most of the configurable parameters are the same, there are some parameters that are available only for Wi-Fi 7 AP models. Applicability is noted where required.
  1. From the Edit Profile page, select the IoT tab.
  2. Choose from the following actions:
    • From the IoT Profile drop-down list, select an existing IoT profile. Optionally, choose from the following actions:
      • Select pencil icon to edit the selected IoT Profile. Edit settings in accordance with the steps in this procedure.

      • Select trash icon to delete the selected IoT Profile.

    • Select target icon to create a new IoT Profile, which you can later select from the drop-down list.

  3. Specify the IoT Profile Name.
  4. Choose from the following actions:
    • If you are configuring an IoT Profile for a Device Group using Wi-Fi 7 or higher standard, select either the BLE Beacon or BLE Scan tab.

    • If you are configuring an IoT Profile for a Device Group using Wi-Fi 6E or lower standard, use the Function drop-down list to select either BLE Scan or BLE Beacon.

  5. Specify the Application by selecting an option using the adjacent check box (Wi-Fi 7 and higher) or the drop-down list (Wi-Fi 6E and lower). Options available depend on the selections from the previous step, as shown in Supported IoT Applications.
    Table 1. Supported IoT Applications
    BLE Beacon ApplicationsBLE Scan Applications
    • iBeacon
    • Eddystone-url Beacon
    • iBeacon Scan
    • Eddystone-url Scan
    • Generic Scan
In turn, the parameters available for configuring IoT Applications depends on the combination of beacon/application(s) and scan/application(s) selected.
    Note

    Note

When configuring a Device Group IoT Profile for AP models using Wi-Fi 6E or lower Wi-Fi standard, you must create a separate IoT Profile for each IoT function and application. However, when configuring a profile for Wi-Fi 7 and higher standard AP models, you can configure all available IoT functions and applications in the same profile.
  6. Proceed to the instructions for configuring the Application parameters in accordance with the Wi-Fi standard in use by the APs in the Device Group :
