Insights Comparative Analytics View
View comparative client health, bandwidth usage, and the number of clients, for your industry.

Comparative Analytics
Comparative analytics is the process of collecting multiple data sets and comparing various elements in them to detect patterns of similarity and difference from which you can extract meaningful and actionable information. This data can provide insight into how your network is performing compared with similar deployments of other Extreme Networks customers within the same industry or other industries. For example, if you observe a considerably higher number of clients connecting to each AP on your network, you might decide to add more APs or upgrade to higher-capacity APs.
Extreme Networks customer data sets are grouped based on how they match the following conditions per RDC (regional data center):

The Comparative Analytics feature is only available at the virtual Hierarchical ExtremeCloud IQ (VIQ) level. If you enable Hierarchical ExtremeCloud IQ and create multiple organizations, APs in the VIQ and all its subordinate organizations report data but only administrators at the VIQ level can see and use Comparative Analytics in the dashboard.Collecting comparative analytics data is enabled by default. You can opt out in the Organization Information section in the Account Details window. Select > Global Settings > Account Details. Set the industry to which your VIQ contributes data for comparison with others here. See Account Details.
Comparative Analytics must be enabled for at least one day so it can collect enough data to make a meaningful comparison.
Comparative analytics relies on data availability for selected parameters such as industry type and organization size. If there is no data, ExtremeCloud IQ displays the following message: "There is insufficient data to generate a response for the selected parameters."

Normalized Bandwidth Usage
To use this widget, first configure the following settings:
Industry: From the drop-down list, choose the industry with which you want to compare your data.
Org. size: Choose the range that includes the number of all the managed APs in your VHM. Include APs at multiple locations and, if Hierarchical ExtremeCloud IQ is enabled, APs in the VHM and all subordinate organizations.

To compare bandwidth usage at multiple sites that you manage, create multiple VHMs, one per site.This widget shows where the average bandwidth usage per AP falls for your deployment as a percentile in comparison to similar deployments in other Extreme Networks accounts at the same RDC.
The normalized amount is a calculation of the average bandwidth usage for every managed AP.
Throughout the day, APs regularly send bandwidth usage reports to ExtremeCloud IQ, which calculates a daily average. When you set the industry and organization size, you can see where your average falls in relation to those of other customers in the same RDC. For example, a 50 percentile means that your bandwidth usage per AP is average, with the same number of similar customers reporting lower bandwidth usage as those reporting higher. On the other hand, a 90 percentile means that 90% of similar customers report lower bandwidth usage per AP and only 10% report higher usage.
The percentile and the color code on the bar serve as indicators of the health of your bandwidth usage compared to other similar deployments. Green indicates that your bandwidth usage falls within an acceptable range, yellow indicates it is relatively higher than others, and red that it is significantly higher. Being in a higher percentile could mean that your APs are better utilized. It could also mean they are over-utilized, which can sometimes impair user experience.
Normalized Number of Unique Client Devices
To use this widget, configure the following settings:
Industry: From the drop-down list, choose the industry with which you want to compare your data.
Org. Size: Choose the range that includes the number of all the managed APs in your VIQ. Include APs at multiple locations and, if Hierarchical ExtremeCloud IQ is enabled, APs in the VIQ and all subordinate organizations.

This widget shows where the average number of unique clients per AP falls for your deployment as a percentile compared to similar deployments in other Extreme Networks accounts at the same RDC.
The normalized amount is a calculation of the an average of unique client reports from every managed AP. (The actual total is not reported because it is normalized to an average.)
Throughout the day, APs regularly send unique client device reports to ExtremeCloud IQ, which calculates a daily average. When you set the industry, organization size, and technology, you can see where your average amount falls in relation to that of other customers in the same RDC. For example, a 50 percentile means that the number of unique client devices per AP in your deployment is completely average, with the same number of similar customers reporting fewer client devices per AP as those reporting more. On the other hand, a 90 percentile means that 90% of similar customers report fewer client devices per AP and only 10% report more.
The percentile and the color code on the bar serve as indicators of how the number of unique client devices per AP compare with similar deployments. Green indicates that the number of client devices per AP in your deployment falls within an acceptable range, yellow indicates there are relatively more than others. Red indicates that there are significantly more. Being in a higher percentile could mean that your APs are over-utilized in serving more clients.
Average Number of Clients with Poor Health
To use this widget, configure the following settings:
Industry: From the drop-down list, choose the industry with which you want to compare your data.
Org. Size: Choose the range that includes the number of all the managed APs in your VIQ. Include APs at multiple locations and, if Hierarchical ExtremeCloud IQ is enabled, APs in the VIQand all subordinate organizations.

To compare bandwidth usage at multiple sites that you manage, create multiple ViQ, one per site.Radio Band: Choose the radio band of the wireless clients that you want to compare. You can see client health comparisons for the 2.4 GHz radio band, the 5 GHz band, or both bands combined.
After you set the industry, org size (total number of APs in your VIQ), and radio band, this widget allows you to compare the number of clients with poor network connectivity in your deployment with those of other Extreme Networks customers. APs regularly report client data to ExtremeCloud IQ, which calculates client health scores by examining radio link quality, IP network connectivity, and throughput for applications related to SLA (service level assurance) settings. Over time, ExtremeCloud IQ creates an average of the poor client health scores it collects. It then compares this average with other Virtual IQ deployments hosted at the same RDC so that you can see how the number of clients with poor health in your network ranks related to others.
The percentile and the color code on the bar serve as indicators of how the average number of clients with poor network health in your deployment compare with those in other deployments. Green indicates that the average number of such clients in your deployment falls within an acceptable range, yellow indicates there are relatively more than others, and red that there are significantly more. Being in a higher percentile might mean that you need to redesign your wireless network to improve client health.
Select industry type and organization size using the drop-down lists in the Historical Data widget to see normalized bandwidth usage as circles (data points) on a chart. Hover over a circle to see the date and usage percentile. Analyzing historical data helps you identify trends and see the impact changes to your network environment.
Circle colors change to indicate different states of the collected data at different points in time. For example, 40% might be green on one date but yellow on another depending on the data gathered from other sources for those dates. Circle colors match colors for each day in the corresponding widget.
Historical data is available for up to 30 days. To retain reports longer, select to download and save historical data as a CSV file, and chart images as PNG files.
