Configure > Network Policies
A network policy is an assembly of policy-level configurations that ExtremeCloud IQ can deploy to all devices that you assign to the policy. Because these configurations are set at the policy level, you can apply them to multiple devices that you want to be configured similarly. In contrast, device-level configurations are more appropriately applied to individual devices.
The traditional approach to deploying APs is to add a wireless network over an existing wired network, and then to manage the switches, routers, and APs with separate network policies. Extreme Networks allows you to manage switch, router, and AP devices together within a single, unified policy. If you prefer, you can still use multiple network policies—one each for switches, routers, and APs—but by using one policy for everything, you can have unified management of all your devices. ExtremeCloud IQ Connect supports up to three network policies, and ExtremeCloud IQ supports hundreds of network policies.
For more information about how to create a new network policy, or modify an existing policy, see Network Policy Settings.
The Network Policies table displays the names and descriptions of existing network policies. From here you can add new policies, and edit or remove existing policies.
You can view the network policies in two formats:
To add a new network policy, select Add above the table, or select Add Network Policy or Express Policy Setup (ExtremeCloud IQ only) above the network status indicators.
To add a Guest Access network (available only in the graphical view), select Add Network/Add Guest Network. ExtremeCloud IQ displays the simplified Guest Access workflow; see Guest Access Wireless Network Settings.
To modify a network policy, select .
To delete a network policy, select and confirm the deletion.
To quickly add an existing SSID (wireless network) to a policy, select next to SSIDs in the network policy descriptive card (available in the graphical display mode only).
