Express Policy Settings

Quickly configure the basic elements of a network policy in this dialog box (ExtremeCloud IQ only). This includes configuring the network policy name, authentication type, wireless network (SSID) name, captive web portal, user group, PSK or WEP key value, and Enterprise RADIUS server.

About Express Policy Settings

The Express Policy Setup feature lets you configure the parameters for a new basic ExtremeCloud IQ network policy. These parameters include network policy name, authentication type, wireless network (SSID) name, captive web portal, and user group. After you save these parameters, you can configure additional parameters and deploy your network policy.

ExtremeCloud IQ requires only one network policy for all network devices, but can support hundreds of network policies. ExtremeCloud IQ Connect supports up to three network policies.

Configure Basic Network Policy Settings

Use the following steps to configure basic network policy settings:

  1. In the Configure > Network Policies window, select Express Policy Setup.
  2. Enter a name for the new network policy. The name can contain up to 32 characters without spaces.
  3. Select whether or not this network policy is to include a wireless network. if this policy will not contain a wireless network, continue to step 10. If this policy will include a wireless network, continue to step 4.
  4. Select the wireless network authentication type from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter the wireless network/SSID name in the SSID name field. The name can contain up to 32 characters without spaces.
  6. (PPSK, Open, or PSK only) If your network policy will not use a CWP (captive web portal), then clear the Create CWP check box, and continue with the next step. If your network policy will include a captive web portal, then select the Create CWP check box, enter a name, and continue with the next step. For more information on CWPs, see Captive Web Portal.
  7. (PPSK only) If your network policy will use an existing User Group, then select the Use Existing User Group check box, select the existing User Group name from the drop-down list, and continue with the next step.If your network policy will not use an existing User Group, then clear the Use Existing User Group check box, configure the new User Group as required, and continue with the next step.   8. (PSK and WEP only) Enter the Key Value, from 8 to 63 characters. For more information, see Standard Wireless Network Settings.
  9. (Enterprise only) Leave the Use Existing RADIUS Server check box cleared, select either the External RADIUS Server button or the A3 Server button, depending on the type of server you want, configure a new RADIUS server with a RADIUS Prefix (up to 28 characters), IP Address, and Shared Secret as required, and then continue with the next step. For more information on RADIUS Servers, see External RADIUS Server Settings. More...ExtremeCloud IQ uses the RADIUS Prefix to automatically create a default external RADIUS server and server group names. Alternatively, you can select the Use Existing RADIUS Server check box, select an existing RADIUS server from the drop-down list, and then continue with the next step.
  10. When you are done, select Create.

In the second Express Policy Setup dialog box, if you are not editing the default basic network policy settings, continue with one of the following two sections.

If you want to edit any of the basic network policy settings, select the associated links in the second Express Policy Setup dialog box, edit the network policy as required, and then continue with one of the following two sections.

When you are finished but do not want to deploy your new network policy, select DONE. See Network Policy Settings. To save and deploy this policy immediately, select go to deploy to save your settings, and go tot he Deploy Policy tab, where you can deploy the policy. See Deploy a Network Policy.
