Universal switches come with a Base license. To evaluate the functionality provided by a Premier license, you can use the enable license trial. This allows you to configure all features, except MACsec, without restrictions, and allows the configuration to be saved. The evaluation period is 30 days. If after 30 days a Premier or Extreme Platform ONE license is not installed (see Obtaining and Installing Licenses), the Trial license will be removed and will revert to Base license capabilities (see Standard and Upgrade Licenses for Universal Hardware Switches) after the next restart. After the Trial license has expired, it can be renewed three more times using the enable license trial command.
Installing a Premier or Extreme Platform ONE license clears the Trial license automatically and does not require the switch to be restarted. To manually clear or remove the Trial license, use the "clear license trial" command followed by a switch restart.
