Data Plane Establishment and Operation

The data plane is established initially as two separate and distinct cascades as shown in Simple Extended Edge Switching Ring. After the ring control plane is established, the data plane remains the same, except that the cascades are extended in both directions around the ring to facilitate failover if a link break occurs.
