Metrics
The information in this topic provides basic information about the Metrics button in the top-right corner of a dashboard.
For introductory information about using Tableau, see Viewing the Dashboards in Tableau.
Metrics provide you with insights into trends in the data. Tableau provides you with the ability to highlight the metrics that are most important to you.
To create a metric:
- Click the data point in a table or graph you want to add to your metrics list.
- Click the Metrics button to open the Metrics pane on the right-side of the window.
- Change the Name of the metric, if necessary.
- Enter a Description for the metric, if necessary.
- Click Create.
A link to the metric displays at the top of the window.
Click Go to metric to open the metric.
Use this window to view the changes to your metric in the left-side of the window and view details about the metric in the right-side of the window.
You can also share the metric with other users via the Share Metric button.
