As you begin creating a VMware VM,
specify
a name, VM-compatibility, Linux version, and datastore.

Log in to VMware
ESXi.

In the left-hand Navigator frame,
select Virtual Machines,
and then click Create/Register VM.

On the Select creation
type screen, select Create a new virtual
machine, and then click Next.

On the Select a name and guest OS screen:

In the Name field, type a descriptive and unique
VM name.

In the Compatibility list, select
ESXi 6.5 virtual machine.

In the Guest OS family list, select
Linux.

In the Guest OS version list, select
Ubuntu Linux(64-bit).

Click Next.

On the Select storage screen, select the destination
datastore, and then click
Next.
