RF Management profiles are AP model dependent and reusable. Default profiles are intended to make RF Management easy, getting you up and running without having to configure an RF policy. However, you can always create custom profiles based on the default RF Management profiles. The type of RF Management policy supported—Automatic Channel Selection (ACS) or Smart RF—depends on the AP model, as follows:
ACS Policy — AP39xx models
Smart RF Policy — AP models that use Wi-Fi 6 or higher standards
ExtremeWireless security leverages Smart RF processes and resources to support the Auto Sensor feature, improving resource allocation and, in turn, network performance and user experience. When enabled, Smart RF Auto Sensor reduces the number of dedicated AP sensors required in the Smart RF domain to perform security scans. You configure the Smart RF Auto Sensor feature under the Smart RF profile. The following ExtremeWireless AP models support the Smart RF Auto Sensor feature: AP410i/e, AP410C, AP460i/e, AP460C, AP4020/X/FX, AP5022, AP5022FX, AP5022SD6, AP5060D, and AP5060U. See Smart RF Auto Sensor for further detail.
Note
When APs are assigned to the same Site and the have same Smart-RF policy, they are considered to be under the same Smart-RF domain.
The RF Management settings differ somewhat with each policy type, but both policy types require that you begin with Basic settings configuration. To configure RF Management settings:
Go to Configure > Sites and select a Site from the list.
From the Device Group list, select a device group for an eligible AP model. Follow the instructions in Configure Basic RF Management.
