Custom Applications
Add, modify, and delete custom applications.
Navigate using the tab icons. Hover over an icon to see the name of the tab.
Configure > Applications > Add Custom
As described in Applications, you can create and edit custom application definitions, including an application group, optional descriptions, and application detection rules. To add a custom application, perform the following steps:
In the Applications window, select Add.
Complete these fields:
Application Name: Enter a name. The name can contain up to 32 characters, without spaces.
Description: Enter an optional description. This text will be displayed when you hover over the application name.
Application Group: Select an existing application group from the drop-down 
, or create a new application group by selecting 
. Select Save.
Application Detection Rules: Add one or more application detection rules as described in Application Detection Rules.
When you are finished, select Save. In the Applications window, you will see the custom icon in the type field next to custom applications.
To modify a custom application, perform the following steps:
If necessary, search for the custom application name as described in Applications.
In the Applications window, select the custom application name.
In the Add Custom Application dialog box, you can modify the following fields:
Application Name: You can change this to any name containing up to 32 characters, including special characters. Spaces are not permitted.
Description: You can change the optional description for the custom application. This text is displayed when your mouse pointer hovers over the application name.
Application Group: Select an application group from the drop-down list or create a new application group by selecting and entering a group name in the Group Name dialog box. Select Save.
Application Detection Rules: You can add, delete, or change one or more optional application detection rules as described in Application Detection Rules.
When you have completed your changes, select Save.
To delete a custom application, select the check box for that custom application and then select 
.
