Advanced Configuration

A MiNT policy secures communications at the transport layer. Using MiNT, a device can be configured to communicate only with other MiNT activated devices.

Use this procedure to configure or edit a MiNT policy.

Note

Note

Use this procedure to configure a device profile, or to override profile settings for a specific device.
  1. Go to Profiles or Devices and select a device from the profile or device list.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.

The MiNT Protocol Pool tab displays by default.

  3. Configure or edit the parameters as described in MiNT Protocol Pool Parameters.
Table 1. MiNT Protocol Pool Parameters
    ParameterDescription
    Area Identifier
    Level 1 Area ID

Configure local MiNT routing settings. Options are:

    • Not Set (default) — Maintain this setting if you do not want to configure local MiNT routing settings.

    • ID — Select this option and specify a value in the range 1 – 16777215 to configure the level 1 routing area identifier.

    • Alias — Select this option and specify an alias (should be existing and configured) to configure the level 1 routing area identifier.

    Priority Adjustment
    Designated IS Priority Adjustment

Sets the relative priority for the router to become the Designated Intermediate System (DIS) or designated router.

Set the Designated IS Priority Adjustment to a value in the range -255 – 255, which is added to the base level DIS priority to influence the DIS election. Higher values increase priority.

Control PrioritySelect to assign a priority value that determines the probability of the election of this device (in comparison to others) to a Level 2 router. Higher values increase the probability of this device being elected. This option is disabled by default.
    Shortest Path First (SPF)
Latency of Routing RecalculationSelect to set the latency of routing recalculation (within the Shortest Path First (SPF) field). Specify the latency using a value in the range 0 – 60 seconds This option is disabled by default.
    Mint Link Settings
MLCP IPSelect MLCP IP to activate MiNT Link Creation Protocol using an IP address.

MLCP is used to create a UDP/IP link from the device to a neighbor. The neighboring device does not need to a controller or a service platform. It can be another access point with a path to the controller or service platform.

MLCP IPv6Select MLCP IPv6 to activate MLCP for automated MiNT UDP/IP link creation.
MLCP VLANSelect MLCP VLAN to activate MiNT MLCP by VLAN.

MLCP is used to create one VLAN link from the device to a neighbor. The neighboring device does not need to be a controller or service platform, it can be another access point with a path to the controller or service platform.

Tunnel MiNT Across Extended VLANSelect Tunnel MINT Across Extended VLAN to tunnel MiNT protocol packets across an extended VLAN.
    Tunnel Controller Load Balancing
Tunnel Controller Load Balancing (Level 1) If available to your controller, select to enable load balancing of MiNT extended VLAN traffic through a WLAN tunnel controller.
    Inter Tunnel Bridging
Inter Tunnel Bridging (Level 2)Select to enable forwarding of broadcast multicast (BCMC) packets between devices communicating via Level 2 MiNT links. When enabled, MiNT tunnels across Level 2, adopted access points are bridged. One of the advantages of inter-tunnel bridging is the enabling of roaming between these access points. This option is disabled by default.
Note: If you enable this option, use ACLs to filter unwanted BCMC traffic.
  4. After you have completed configuring the settings, choose from the following actions:
    1. Select Revert to restore default settings or restore the last saved settings.
      Note

      Note

You cannot restore default settings after applying or saving changes.
    2. Select Apply to commit the configured settings.
      Note

      Note

This does not permanently save the settings you configured. If you perform a Reload (warm reboot), applied settings will be lost.
    3. Select Save to commit and save the configured settings.
      Note

      Note

If you do not select Apply or Save, the settings that you configured are not saved when you move away from the configuration window.
