Configure a Meshpoint Profile

Perform the following tasks before continuing with this procedure:
  • Configure a mesh network. See Mesh Networking for details.

  • Configure one or two device groups, in accordance with the recommendations provided in Configure a Meshpoint Network.

    Note

    Note

Do not rename an AP after it is added to a mesh network. Renaming the device affects the display of the reported statistics.

Mesh networks are comprised of meshpoints that are associated with radio channels on both root and non-root APs. When the radio channel is changed on a root AP, the non-root APs can find the root through Automatic Channel Selection (ACS). A non-root mesh AP is capable of scanning multiple channels to find the best root AP, thereby providing the best path for network traffic.

Use this procedure to configure a Meshpoint Profile for a device group in a mesh network.

  1. Go to Configure > Sites and select the target Site from the list.
  2. Select the target device group from the Device Groups list.
  3. Select pencil icon to edit the device group Profile.
  4. Under the Meshpoints tab, select the target Mesh Network from the Meshpoint Profile drop-down list.
  5. Assign the Meshpoint Profile to one or more radios by selecting the check box associated with the radio.

  6. Select Save.
  7. Select Advanced to configure the device group Profile settings. See Edit Mesh Device Settings.
How channels, widths, and power are applied to meshpoint radios is described in Meshpoint Radio RF Policy Assignment and Configuration.
