Virtual Appliance Setup 3: Configure Initial System Settings
Step 3. Settings and Configuration
Configure important system settings.
Host Name or IP address: Enter a resolvable domain name or IP address of an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server to which the IQ Virtual Appliance sends notifications.

Note
If you enter a domain name, make sure that you have configured at least one DNS server to resolve the domain name of the SMTP server to an IP address.Port: Enter the port on which your SMTP server listens for outgoing connection requests. The default port number for SMTP is 25, and 465 and 587 are common port numbers used with SMTP-AUTH. (For information about SMTP-AUTH, see RFC 4954, SMTP Service Extension for Authentication.) If the port is non-standard, you can set the port number from 1 to 65535, depending on which one your SMTP server uses.
Use TLS: Select the check box to use Transport Layer Security for encryption.
User Name Enter the user name for SMTP authentication.
Password: Enter the password for SMTP authentication.
Show Password: Select the check box to see the password string that you enter.
Sender Address: Enter the admin email address from which IQ Virtual Appliance email notifications are sent.
Test Connection: Select to test the admin email address connection. A "Connection Successful" message displays, and then IQ Virtual Appliance sends a test email message to the email address that was used for SMTP authentication. This message confirms SMTP server and port, email sender, encryption type, password, and user name.
CC List: Enter additional email addresses to which you would like to have notifications sent.
Host Name or IP address: IQ Virtual Appliance is shipped with some default NTP server host names that you can select: "n.aerohive.pool.ntp.org", where "n" is 0, 1, 2, or 3; and destination port is 123. Extreme Networks recommends that you enter the host name or IP address for your own NTP server.
Time Zone
Select Time Zone: Choose the time zone where the administrator is located to adjust the time the IQ Virtual Appliance displays for data such as schedules, reports, and event and alarm log entries. For example, if the administrator is in the same zone as the devices being managed but the IQ Virtual Appliance is in a different time zone, setting an appropriate time zone allows the time-related data to more accurately reflect the time when scheduled, reported, and logged events occur. The time zone display settings are admin-specific to accommodate a geographically dispersed administrative team.
Select the Save & Next to continue to Step 4 of the IQ Virtual Appliance setup workflow.
