An AP device template provides a diagram of the physical ports (specific to the device model), and allows you to specify the functionality of the ports. For configuration details about AP templates, see Device Templates,AP Device Template Settings and Configure Device Template Classification By Location.
Device templates also allow you to customize the WiFi0 and WiFi1 radio interfaces for APs (see Radio Profile Settings), and aggregate ports and configure trunks for switches (see Configure Switch Templates). You can also assign port types to define how the ports function (see Port Types).
You can configure and upload a new network policy or make changes to an existing network policy using the device template. To create different configurations for the same device model, create a new network policy and push a configuration update to individual devices. To make multiple changes simultaneously, use device template classification instead of configuring a new network policy (see Classification Rules Overview).
