Configure Custom Option Definitions for the DHCP Server

Use this procedure to configure custom options for the DHCP Server to advertise to clients.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Configuration > IP.
  2. Select DHCP Server.
  3. Select the Custom Option Definitions tab.
  4. Select Insert.
  5. In ID, type an integer from the unassignged range.
  6. In Type, select the data type for this custom option.
  7. In Name, type a text label that identifies this option.
  8. Select Insert.

    You can use the Custom Option Data tab to assign a data value to the custom option that you define. You can assign the value to the DHCP Server globally, or within a DHCP subnet. Custom Option Definitions Field Descriptions

Use the data in the following table to use the Custom Option Definitions tab.

Name Description
ID Specifies the DHCP code of the option to which you want to assign this data. Enter an integer in the unassigned range from 224 to 254.
Type

Assigns a data type to this Custom Option. All data values that use this custom option must follow the data type that you assign. Select one of three options:

  • Ipv4 address—An IP address in IPv4 format

  • String—A text string.

  • Unit32—A 32-bit integer.

Name Assigns a readable text label that identifies the custom option.
