MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) are supported on ExtremeSwitching X695 Series switches. MPLS is a connection-oriented technology that allows routers to make protocol-independent forwarding decisions based on fixed-length labels.
VPLS is a multipoint Layer 2 VPN service that has the property that all PW tunnels within a VPN are signaled with the same vcid, where the vcid represents the VPN identifier.
