Virtual Machine (VM) Network Connectivity (Insight Ports)

Running virtual machines (VMs) can access the Management VLAN when an associated VM port is assigned an IP address on the Management VLAN. This access is intended for management/maintenance purposes, and shares the bandwidth of the management port with switch management.

The normal connectivity between a guest VM and the network is by dedicated Insight ports. Any management operations (CLI commands, SNMP gets/sets, API calls, etc.) that can be applied to a front-panel port can also be applied to an Insight port. Only one guest VM can be configured per Insight port.

To configure Extreme Insight VMs, including adding Insight ports, see Configuring Insight Virtual Machines .
