Pure IPv6 Support

XCO supports pure IPv6 mode where nodes are configured only with IPv6 addresses on their interfaces.

XCO installer supports IPv4, IPv6, and Dual mode IP deployments. The following table describes the installer changes during installation on both the suites:

Note

Note

Fabric suite does not support pure IPv6 mode.
Suite Selected Modes Installer changes
Fabric IPv4 No longer asks for optional IPv6 address. For example, Virtual IPv6. Optional sub-interface IPv6 subnet
IPv6 Installation exits or asks for restart with an appropriate error shown
Dual No changes from previous releases
Packet IPv4 Skips asking optional IPv6 address
IPv6 All inputs on IPv6 address
Dual No changes from previous releases

Limitations

  1. For Pure IPv6 mode, a static default IPv6 route is required on all nodes.
  2. Use of IPv4 mapped IPv6 address and IPv6 link local addresses is not supported.
  3. Use of the link local addresses for installation input is not supported.
  4. Upgrade from IPv4 mode or Dual mode to IPv6 mode is not supported and vice versa.

Supported Platforms

  1. TPVM (IPv4 and Dual mode)
  2. OVA
  3. Server
