You can configure the intervals that a
device waits to send (transmit) or receive control packets from Bidirectional Forwarding
Detection (BFD) peers. You can also configure the interval after which routes are withdrawn
when a BFD session is down.
Procedure

Access global configuration
mode.
device# configure terminal

Access BGP configuration mode.
device(config)# router bgp

Specify the transmit time, the
receive time, and the number of consecutive control packets that must be missed
before the connection to a peer is considered non-operational.
device(config-bgp-router)# bfd interval 140 min-rx 125 multiplier 44
The above example specifies a transmit
interval of 140 ms, the min-rx keyword followed by a receive interval of 125 ms,
and the multiplier value of 44, which indicates that 44
consecutive packets must be missed before the connection to the peer is
considered non-operational.

Specify the interval after which
BGP routes are withdrawn after a BFD session is declared down.
device(config-bgp-router)# bfd holdover-interval 15
The above example specifies a holdover
interval of 15 seconds.
