Network Time Protocol (NTP) over Multiple Virtual Routers (VRs)

Previously, if you had Network Time Protocol (NTP) on a Virtual Router (VR) and wanted to enable it on another VR, NTP had to be disabled globally. Also, if NTP was enabled on one VR, it could not be simultaneously enabled on another VR. Starting with ExtremeXOS 22.2, NTP works over multiple VRs. NTP can be individually enabled and disabled per VR.

Supported Platforms

Summit X450-G2, X460-G2, X670-G2, X770, and ExtremeSwitching X870, X440-G2, X620 series switches.

Limitations

  • NTP authentication can be enabled only globally.
  • If one host is configured as an NTP server on one VR, the same host cannot be configured as server for another VR. For example, if 1.1.1.1 is added as the NTP server in VR-Default, the same server cannot be added in VR-Mgmt.
