Take the following steps to connect to the appliance through the console port:
- Connect the laptop serial port to the console port on the hardware appliance.
Note
If the laptop does not support RS232 interface, then
obtain a USB to RS232 converter cable, which supports the following
connections:
- RJ45-DB9F cable—for 1130C, 4120C, or 4120C-1
- Null Modem DB9 F-F (Female to Female)—for
2130C, 3150C , or
3160C

Using PuTTY, TeraTerm, or another terminal emulator, connect to the serial port
connection and configure the following settings for the serial port:.
- 115200 baud
- 8
data bits
- 1
stop bit
- Parity none
- Flow
control none
Note
The system‘s default gateway
must be pointing to a next hop connection through the service ports.
