You can measure and report the inlet air temperature of a switch using a USB dongle temperature sensor (not provided) and the Switch Engine operating system. Connect the USB end of the temperature sensor to the USB port of the switch. Using the command line interface (CLI), enter the following command to display the USB temperature sensor information:
show temperature
For switch models that support two USB ports, the sensor works in either port, but only one sensor works at at time if two sensors are plugged in. If two sensors are installed and one sensor is removed, the second sensor must be re-seated for the kernel/operating system to detect and use it.
