The Extreme 8730 switch includes the following models:
8730-32D
The 8730-32D base switch includes two unpopulated modular power supply slots and seven unpopulated fan slots. Fan modules and power supply modules must be ordered separately.
8730-32D-AC-F
The 8730-32D-AC-F switch includes dual modular AC power supplies and seven fan modules. Airflow for both the fan modules and the powers supply modules is front-to-back.
8730-32D-AC-R
The 8730-32D-AC-R switch includes dual modular AC power supplies and seven fan modules. Airflow for both the fan modules and the powers supply modules is back-to-front.
8730-32D-DC-F
The 8730-32D-DC-F switch includes dual modular DC power supplies and seven fan modules. Airflow for both the fan modules and the powers supply modules is front-to-back.
8730-32D-DC-R
The 8730-32D-DC-R switch includes dual modular DC power supplies and seven fan modules. Airflow for both the fan modules and the powers supply modules is back-to-front.
The front panel of the switch includes:
1 = System LEDs
2 = RJ-45 Serial console port
3 = USB Type A port
4 = HD-BNC connector for Time synchronization, 1PPS and 10MHz
5 = Mode button
6 = Global Navigation Satellite System for GPS signal
7 = 32 x 40/100/400Gbps QSFP-DD ports (backwards compatible to QSFP-28)
8 = 2 x 1/10Gbps SFP+ out-of-band (OOB) management ports
9 = Advanced services port for the processor to offload to external appliance
10 = Time of Day (TOD), 1PPS signal inputs
There are two OOB management ports:
MGMT2 - shared by CPU and BMC (secondary)
MGMT1 - Direct to CPU only (primary)
8730-32D Front Panel
The rear panel of the switch includes:
1 = 7 x Fan modules
2 = 2 x Modular power supplies
3 = Grounding lug
Airflow is front-to-back if the power supplies have red tabs and the fans are marked Air Out. Airflow is back- to-front if the power supplies have blue tabs.and the fans are marked Air In.
