Dual Controlling Bridges in Ring Topologies
(MLAGs)
In an Extended Edge
Switching ring topology with dual (redundant) controlling bridges (CBs),
MLAG (Multi-switch Link Aggregation Group)s are used to synchronize and coordinate the ring
state between the two CBs. For more information about redundant CBs, see Dual Controlling Bridges in Ring Topologies (MLAGs).
Two MLAG topology types are supported:
- Cross-connect
MLAG—requires 48-port bridge port extenders (BPEs) with four trusted ports
(for example, V400-48p-10GE4). See Cross-Connect MLAGs.
- One-armed MLAG—used for
wiring closet with existing cabling limitations or smaller BPEs. See One-Arm MLAGs.
