AFC Tab

The AFC tab displays 6GHz SP specific parameters for the subset of APs supporting SP.

This section explains the information displayed under the AFC tab.

The dashboard summary displays Geo Location, AFC status, and SP Radio Operational Status information for APs at the selected site.

You can choose to view a specific floor or all floors at the site using the Floor-Select drop-down list. The default view is All floors.

If you choose a floor that has an AFC deployment, the following optional actions display:

Geo Loc Agent — Use the drop-down menu to choose from the following actions:
- No Action Selected — This is the default setting.
- Refresh AP Geo Coordinates - Wi-Fi InSvc — Use this action to build subgraphs for new installations and for troubleshooting, for example, after a major power outage.
  
  If this operation is unsuccessful because not enough Anchor APs are detected, install more Anchor APs in strategic locations, then select Recalculate AP Geo Coordinates.
- Recalculate AP Geo Coordinates — Select this action when new GPS or Mobile APP coordinates are available, for example, when one or more Anchor APs are relocated or new Anchor APs are added for strategic purposes or for troubleshooting.
Geo Loc Agent Status — Displays the status while any action selected under Geo Location Agent is in progress. The status does not automatically refresh. Select to refresh the status display. Possible status indicators are:
- Ranging — FTM AP-to-AP ranging is in progress.
- Queued — Geo-Location Agent is waiting until resources are available to process APs on the floor.
- Building — Geo-Location Agent is processing APs on the floor, and building or redrawing subgraphs on the floor plan.
- Complete — Refresh AP Geo Coordinates or Recalculate AP Geo Coordinates process is complete.
- Error — An issue has occurred with the last action taken.
Note
Once the Geo Location Status is Complete, refresh the list of AFC APs.

Following is a description of the information displayed under each column heading in the AFC tab for each AP at the selected site.

Status — Indicates service status.
Name — The AP name.
Model — The AP model (e.g., AP5050)
Radio Index — 1, 2, or 3
Geo Location — One of the following:
- Not Available — The initial state after the AP is powered up.
- Available -GPS — When exposed to open sky, the GPS can lock within 2 minutes. Otherwise, the required time to lock GPS depends on signal obstructions.
- Available-Derived — The geo-location coordinates have been derived through a mobile phone application.
Anchor Type — Source from which the anchor AP derived geo coordinates
AFC Status — One of the following:
- PENDING — The initial state after the AP was powered up, AP waits for “Geo Location Available” and AFC spectrum response from the AFC server.
- AVAILABLE — AFC spectrum is available until Expire Date shown, 24 hours after the AFC server assigned the spectrum.
- GRACE-PERIOD — The AFC spectrum needs to be renewed every 24 hours (see AFC Schedule). If the AFC server is not reachable or not responding at the selected time, the status changes to GRACE-PERIOD. The status remains in GRACE-PERIOD until next midnight. If the AFC server stays down, changes to PENDING and shuts down the radios. When the AFC server recovers the state will change to PENDING.
- NO-SPECTRUM
Expire — Hours to expiration
Power Mode — LPI, SP, or LPI + SP
Channel — 23e/80 or N/A
Req. Channel — 23e/80
Fallback Channel — 7e/80
Power — 12dBm or N/A
Req. Power — 18dBm
Floor Name — The name assigned to a floor plan
Subgraph — Name of the subgraph to which the AP belongs
FTM Ranges — Number of FTM-detected APs that are within range of the selected AP

Note

Req. Channel and Fallback Channel must be the same channel width.

Use Auto Refresh to automatically refresh the information presented. From the Auto Refresh drop-down field, select the refresh value. Valid values are:

OFF
30 Seconds
1 Minute
3 Minutes
5 Minutes

You can also select

to manually refresh the page anytime.

Note

Save your page setting changes. Auto Refresh is implemented at the browser level and therefore will reset any selections or unsaved page setting changes. When using Auto Refresh, select a refresh interval that allows you to complete the operation within the defined interval. For best results, set Auto Refresh to OFF during configuration selections or selection of a large number of elements.
