Abstract

The Extreme Networks Universal Switches Deployment guide for ExtremeCloud™ IQ (Classic) version 25.5.0 provides comprehensive technical instructions for configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Extreme Networks Universal Switches. It details onboarding procedures, firewall access configuration, topology mapping, and switching between Switch Engine and Fabric Engine network operating systems. The guide outlines the creation and deployment of network policies, including VLAN attributes, port types, device templates, and advanced settings such as DHCP/IGMP snooping, ELRP, STP, LLDP/CDP, and syslog/SNMP/NTP/DNS server integration. It introduces Instant Port Profiles (IPP) and Instant Secure Port Profiles (ISPP) for dynamic port configuration and authentication, with match criteria based on MAC and LLDP data. Device-level overrides, stack configuration, and routing (including static routes and network allocation) are supported. Monitoring tools, troubleshooting workflows, and CLI references are included for both Switch Engine and Fabric Engine environments. The document is technically accessible to IT professionals and network administrators, and supports deployment scenarios across office, campus, and unmanaged switch environments.
