app-category (application-config-mode)

Configures the category for this application definition

Supported in the following platforms:

  • Access Points — AP-7522, AP 7532

  • Service Platforms — NX 5500, NX 7510, NX 95XX, NX 96XX, VX 9000

Syntax

app-category <APP-CATEGORY-NAME>

Parameters

app-category <APP-CATEGORY-NAME>
app-category <APP-CATEGORY-NAME> Select the category best suited for this application definition. There are twenty three categories. These are: business, conference, custom, database, filetransfer, gaming, generic, im, mail, mobile, network\ management, other, p2p, remote_control, social\ networking, standard, streaming, tunnel, video, voip, and Web.

The default setting is custom. Use this option to categorize your internal custom applications, so that they do not appear as unknown traffic.
