On ExtremeSwitching series switches, the output includes the current temperature, operating status of the switch, and inlet air temperature. The following shows a sample display from a switch:
# show temperature Field Replaceable Units Temp (C) Status Min Normal Max ------------------------------------------------------- --------- ------- --- ------- --- Switch : 5520-24W 68.38 Normal 0 10-100 110 Switch : Inlet Air 21.50
The switch monitors its temperature and generates a warning if the temperature exceeds the normal operating range. If the temperature exceeds the maximum limit, the show switch output indicates the switch in an OPERATIONAL (Overheat) mode, and the show temperature output indicates an error state due to overheat.
For the inlet air temperature readings, for switch models that support two USB ports, the sensor works in either port, but only one sensor will work at a time if two are plugged in. If two are installed and one is removed, the second one must be re-seated for the kernel/operating system to detect and use it.
