Enhanced Transmission Selection (ETS) Recommendation TLV

This LLDP TLV is used to advertise the recommended Enhanced Transmission Selection configuration. A willing system might receive a recommendation TLV which uses more traffic classes than the receiving system might support. In such cases, the receiving system may assign the received recommendations to match its capabilities.

The various configuration parameters are:

Field Description
TLV Type Size: 7 bits. Describes the Type of this TLV. This value is always 127 as this is a custom TLV.
TLV Information String Length Size: 9 bits. This field indicates the size of the TLV information being passed. For this TLV this value is twenty five (25).
802.1 OUI Size: 3 octets. The Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) assigned to the organization. This value is always 00-80-C2 for this TLV.
802.1 Subtype Size: 1 octet. This is an internally defined subtype. Its value is always ten (10). This is assigned and managed by the organization.
Reserved Size: 2 bits. Reserved for future use and is not used.
Priority Assignment Table Size: 4 octets. Indicates the mapping of priority with the corresponding traffic class.

This table consists of one 4 bit entry per Priority. Values of 0-7 can be assigned as Priority value and is mapped to the corresponding traffic class. All other values are considered Reserved and ignored.
Traffic Class Bandwidth Table Size: 8 octets. This table consists of one eight (8) bit entry per traffic class. This table always contains eight (8) entries where each entry indicates the current allocated bandwidth for the traffic class. Ensure that the sum of allocated bandwidths is always 100.

TSA Assignment Table Size: 8 octets. This table one eight (8) bit entry per traffic class. Each entry indicates the Transmission Selection Algorithm to be used for the traffic class. This value is always two (0) for each octet and indicates Enhanced Transmission Selection.
