AFC Wireless View

The AFC Wireless view shows all access points (APs )that support 6E Standard Power under Automatic Frequency Coordination (AFC) server control. A dashboard summary displays AFC Status, Geo Location, and AFC Mismatch information for the APs.
Note

Note

AFC is supported on AP5050 (outdoor) devices.
Important

Important

For AFC support, APs must be deployed to a site with Outdoor Mode enabled.

AFC Status and Geo Location are not related to the AP's current connection status. They indicate that the AP can function within the region it is connected to. If an AP is no longer connected, the AFC Status and Geo Location are not erased. Both the AFC Status and Geo Location remain unchanged until the expiration time is reached. When the expiration time is reached, the AFC Status changes to "Grace Period" and the Geo Location changes to "Not Available".

Go to Manage > Devices, then from the View drop-down list, select AFC Wireless.

AFC Service Connection Status

Select AFC Service to view the AFC service connection status. AFC service status indicates whether the device is successfully connected to the AFC server. The graph shows the AFC service availability for the last 24 hours

Table 1. AFC Service Details
FieldDescription
ModeIndicates if the AFC service is Connected or Not Connected to the AFC server.
AddressDisplays the URL or IP address of the connected AFC server.
CountryDisplays the country in which the AFC service is operating.

Graph Details

The AFC Status graph displays the status of each AP:
  • Available: AFC spectrum is available until 24 hours after the AFC server assigned the spectrum.
  • Pending: The initial state after the AP powers up. The AP waits for “Geo Location Available” and AFC spectrum response from the AFC server.
  • Grace Period: The AFC spectrum must be renewed every 24 hours. If the AFC server is not reachable, or not responding at the selected time, the status changes to Grace Period. The status remains in Grace Period until the next midnight UTC. If the AFC server stays down, the status changes to Pending and the radios are shut down. After the AFC server recovers, the status changes to Pending.
The Geo Location graph displays the geo location status of each AP:
  • Available: The GPS has locked on sufficient satellites to determine the coordinates of the AP. The GPS locks within 2 minutes if the AP is exposed to open sky. If not, the time is unpredictable, depending on signal obstructions.
  • Not Available: The initial state after the AP powers up.

The AFC Spectrum Mismatch graph highlights the number of APs with discrepancies between their expected AFC settings and the actual spectrum usage.
