About this task
A VLAN probe helps you locate available VLANs for devices in a complex network with
multiple VLANs.
Procedure

Select the device for which you
want to locate available VLANs.

Select VLAN
Probe.

Enter the start and end of a range of VLAN IDs to probe.
You can enter up to five ranges, however, range numbers cannot overlap.

Define how many probes to send
(up to 10) on each VLAN.

Specify how long to wait for a reply from each probe.
You can set a timeout from 1 to
60 seconds.

Select Stop to stop a probe before it is complete.

Select Clear to clear entries for a probe.
Results
When the VLAN probe is complete, a display shows whether the probed VLANs are
available for use, and if so, their subnet.
