Configuring Hardware Buffer for Lossless Traffic

Two QoS hardware profiles are provided to enable/disable support for buffer allocation. Select the lossy hardware profile to disable this feature. If you execute any PFC/Pause related commands, they will throw error messages. Select the lossless profile to enable this feature. PFC/Pause configurations can now be applied to the selected interface.

  1. Enter configuration mode.
    device# configure terminal

  2. Enter the hardware context.
    device# hardware

  3. Use the following command to use the lossless profile.
    device(hardware)# profile qos ?

    Possible completions:
lossless set qos hardware lossless profile
lossy set qos hardware lossy profile

    device(hardware)# profile qos lossless
    device(hardware)#

  4. Return to privileged exec mode.
    device(hardware)# exit

  5. Save the configuration.
    device# copy running-config startup-config

  6. To view the PFC/Pause statistics, use the show qos flowcontrol stats command.
device# show qos flowcontrol stats interface eth 0/1

    Interface Ethernet 0/1
