Configure DHCP Server Global Settings

Use this procedure to configure the DHCP Server Global tab in EDM.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, select Configuration > IP > DHCP Server.
  2. Select the Global tab.
  3. Leave the Enabled check box unselected.
  4. In the HA Role field, select the role that you want to apply to this switch.
  5. In the HA Peer Ip field, enter the IPv4 address of the peer switch.
  6. In the Lease Duration field, enter the default lease expiration timer in seconds.
  7. In the TFTP Server Ip field, enter the IPv4 address of the default TFTP server that you want DHCP Server to use.
  8. In the TFTP Server Name field, enter the server name for the TFTP sever.
  9. In the TFTP Bootfile Name field, enter the boot image file name.
  10. Select the Authoritative check box if you want to assign this server as an authoritative server.
  11. In the NetBios Type field, select the option that matches the node type.
  12. In the NetBios Server Ip, enter the IPv4 address of the NetBIOS server.
  13. Select Apply.

Global Field Descriptions

Use the data in the following table to configure the Global tab for DHCP Server.

Name Description
Enabled

Specifies that the DHCP Server is enabled on the switch. By default, DHCP Server is disabled.

HA Role

Specifies the role of this switch in a DHCP Server High Availability (HA) pairing. In an HA pair, one server must be primary and the other must be secondary. Select one of the following options:

  • Default—The HA Role gets assigned automatically. By default, the switch with the lower IP address is primary.

  • Primary—This switch provides a DHCP service while DHCP Server is active.

  • Secondary—This switch provides a DHCP service only when the primary switch is down.

HA Peer Ip The IP address of the peer switch in the High Availability pair.
Lease Duration The global lease duration timer, in seconds.
TFTP Server Ip The IPv4 address of the TFTP server that you want to assign to DHCP Server.
TFTP Server Name The server name of the TFTP server that you want to assign to DHCP Server.
TFTP Bootfile Name The file name of the TFTP boot image that you want to assign to clients that connect to DHCP Server.
Authoritative Check this check box to assign this DHCP Server as authoritative. The default setting is non-authoritative.
NetBios Type

Specifies the global NetBios node type. Check the check box that corresponds to the node type:

  • B-Node
  • P-Node
  • M-Node
  • H-Node
Net Bios Server Ip Specifies the IPv4 address of the global NetBios server.
