iBeacon Settings

Table 1. iBeacon IoT Settings
ParameterDescription
NameUnique profile name.
FunctionDetermines the purpose of the IoT profile.

Select BLE Beacon.

ApplicationDetermines application type based on the previously selected function BLE Beacon.

Select iBeacon.

Advertising IntervalThe advertising interval for the beacon application. Valid values are: Min (100ms) and Max (10240ms). The default value is Min (100ms).
UUIDIdentifier used to differentiate a large group of related beacons. A company can have a network of beacons with the same UUID.
MajorIdentifies a subset of beacons within the larger set. This value could represent a venue specific attribute, such as a specific store or wing in a building. Valid values are 0 to 65535.

This setting can be defined for a specific AP. For more information, see Advanced Setting Overrides.

MinorIdentifies an individual beacon. Used to more precisely pinpoint beacon location. This value complements the UUID and Major values to provide more granular identification of a specific location, such as a particular shelf, door-way, or item. Valid values are 0 to 65635.

Specify 0 for Random Minor. ExtremeCloud IQ Controller generates the Minor value. This ensures that each AP receives a unique value.

This setting can be defined for a specific AP. For more information, see Advanced Setting Overrides.

Measured RSSIThe calibrated (or measured) RSSI, in dBm for the beacon. The transmitted beacon includes this value in the tag. Default values are: iBeacon -47dBm, Eddystone beacon -5dBm. The default precision value is acceptable in most cases. To calibrate your own precise value: Using Eddystone Beacon, measure the actual transmitter output from 1 meter away and add 41dBm. (41dBm is the signal loss that occurs over 1 meter.) If you are using Apple iBeacon, refer to: "Calibrating iBeacon" at https://developer.apple.com/ibeacon/Getting-Started-with-iBeacon.pdf

This setting can be defined for a specific AP. For more information, see Advanced Setting Overrides.
